Holy Name Catholic Primary School Sports Premium
Through PE and sport, our children learn to develop the importance of teamwork, communication, ambition, resilience and discipline, leading to improved concentration, attitude and academic achievement.
We are grateful for the Government’s announcement to provide additional funding to improve the provision of Physical Education (PE) and sport in Primary Schools. We are committed to using this resource in developing high-quality PE lessons to all ages and maximising the sporting opportunities across Holy Name.
Here are a few of our sports activities
KS1 children have taken part in the virtual Speed Bounce Competition. Well done to our Year 2 pupil who scored a high score of 45 bounces in 20 seconds, and will now represent our school in the competition. Well done to all children for taking part with such great enthusiasm.
A huge well done to our Year 5/6 children for taking part in the LSSP basketball competition at Toxteth FireFit. The children had a great afternoon and were able to showcase their basketball skills that they have been practicing week in, week out, with our LSSP basketball choach Delme after school. The children made it through to the semi finals and then later won the competition. We are so proud of their efforts and look forward to watching them in the city finals! What fantastic athletes!
Our Year 1/ 2 children have had a lovely afternoon at Broughton Hall for the LSSP gymnastics festival. The children had the opportunity to try out a range of different gymnastic activities that they have been practising in their PE lessons. All children had lots of fun and were brilliantly behaved! Well done to all involved.
On Tuesday 4th February 2020, 14 KS2 children and our lunch time supervisors received training from Liverpool School Sports Partnership (LSSP). The play leader training aims to increase physical activity during lunchtimes and the children and staff look forward to putting their new skills and activities into practice on our school yard.
