Projected PE Expenditure 2016/17

We will receive £9245 in funding for P.E provision for the academic year 2016-17 and we will be looking to spend £10,670. The funds will be spent as follows:

  • £6,570 to LSSP (Liverpool School Sports Partnership Gold package) for coaching and staff training and support.
  • £4,100 for two extra afternoons of coaching from LSSP coaches. (To teach mainly Dance and Gymnastics and run after school clubs).
  • The school will again take part in top up swimming for year 6 pupils who cannot swim 25m. Based on previous years, there will be approximately ten children needing this at a cost of £36 per child.

In addition, the school subsidises the annual trip to Liverpool John Moores’ University for a full day of sporting activities for all pupils.

Impact Statement:

Because of the relationship we have with LSSP, we are able to access quality PE coaching for six hours per week. This takes place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons when the coach delivers PE lessons from 1-3pm and then after school clubs between 3-4pm. The class teacher attends the lessons and is able to observe the coach’s delivery. The after school clubs are aimed at children who would not normally take part in sport and they have been successful in encouraging lots of children to attend, trying out lots of different sports.

The relationship with LSSP has been so successful that we have decided to use their coaches for an extra two afternoons per week at a cost of £4,100. This enables more children to attend after school clubs and experience a wide range of sports and also offers us sustainability as members of staff are observing and taking part in lessons that are delivered by high quality coaches, enabling them to improve their own skills.

Another part of our agreement with LSSP is that we can attend lots of different inter-school sports competitions ranging from Football to New Age Kurling. This has enabled a wide range of pupils to take part in competitive sport. The allocation of funding has also enabled us to transport children to various venues.

The school’s investment in swimming also means that for the last five years, every child that has left the school in year 6 has been able to swim at least 25 metres.

PE Expenditure 2015-16

We received £8100 in funding for P.E provision for the academic year 2015-16 and we spent £7564.20. The funds were spent as follows:

  • £6,570 to LSSP (Liverpool School Sports Partnership) for coaching and staff training and support
  • £734.20 on resources
  • £260 on transport to sport competitions

There is £535.80 remaining from the allocated amount and this will be used as a contingency fund in case we need to access transport, training or resources in the following year.
It should also be taken into account that school pays for swimming and top up swimming from the general budget as part of a service level agreement (S.L.A)
