Pupil Premium

Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

Government Website - Articles and advice for children and young people.

Background

Pupil Premium is allocated to schools for:

  • Children of statutory school age from families who are known to be eligible for free school meals (FSM) in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings
  • For children who have been looked after (LAC) continuously for more than six months
  • For children who have a parent currently serving in the armed forces

In each year the funding allocation will include pupils eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years known as the Ever 6 FSM measure.

Schools are free to spend Pupil Premium as they see fit. However, we will be accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support pupils in the categories listed.

We are required to publish on line information about how we have used the Premium. This will ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium and the extra support they receive.

We do believe that all children are entitled to a high quality education. Our children are valued and respected and so we strive to provide a learning environment in which our children feel respected and valued as individuals; where they feel happy and secure and can flourish. Pupil Premium can therefore be used for pupil well-being.

Our aim is that all pupils achieve their potential. Intervention Strategies are identified as the “best fit” for each pupil’s needs and then each half term the impact of each Pupil Premium pupil’s progress is monitored and evaluated. This is in addition to the termly review and tracking of every child’s progress at Holy Name.

Every child’s achievements, no matter how small, are celebrated at Holy Name.

Governing Body

The Governing Body is consulted regarding the proposed spending of the Pupil Premium and agree the programmes / activities to be implemented to support the children entitled to this additional funding and need to demonstrate how the gap is being diminished. It is important to note that other funding is allocated from the budget to support these activities.
